No Yoga In Orange, Wed. Jan 11

There will be no Yoga Class in ORANGE on Wednesday, JANUARY 11, 2012.

I'm so very sorry! I still haven't gotten over the bug I have been fighting. There's a rule of thumb in yoga and other fitness practices -- if you're not feeling well but the main symptoms are above your neck (sinus, etc), it can be OK to practice if you're feeling up to it. But, if your symptoms are systemic or anywhere below the neck, it's best to give the body time to rest and fully recover. I'm in the rest and recovery phase!

Thank you for your patience with me this week. I miss you! And, I hope to be good as new when I see you next week ...

NO Yoga In Madison on Monday, January 9.

There will be no Yoga Class in Madison tonight, Monday, JANUARY 9, 2012.

I'm so very sorry! I have a bit of a stomach bug and while I look forward to sharing yoga with you ... I certainly don't want to share germs with you!

Our WINTER SESSION in Madison will now begin NEXT Monday, January 16, 2012. I hope you'll hang in there for one more week!

(Please note: Madison schools are closed next Monday for the MLK, Jr. holiday, but the school is working to arrange a way for us to get in the building so that we may have class on the 16th. Please assume that class is "on" for next Monday, unless you hear otherwise from me.)

This class cancellation is only for Madison ... classes in Orange are "on" as scheduled this Wednesday (at least I'm sure hoping so!).

I hope you will take time to unroll your mat and bring a bit of yoga into your day.  I always say "Be Gentle With Yourself."  Now, I'm trying to practice that myself.  Thank you for your understanding.

The True Spirit of Yoga

The true spirit of Yoga is a full-time endeavor ~ kindness to your body when on your mat ... kindness to your world when off your mat.

(Classes were supposed to begin on Jan 9, but I had to cancel due to illness.  Please check this website later in the week to make sure that class is on for Jan 16 -- the school is going out of their way to allow us into the building next week since it's a school holiday.  We HOPE to be there!  And, Orange yoga should be "ON" Wednesday as scheduled!)
Classes are appropriate for all levels -- even if you've never done yoga before.

You may join the session at anytime. Your first class with me is free, so come try it out!

The 8-week session begins Monday, January 9, 2012 and is scheduled to run through Monday, February 27. (There may be a holiday Monday in there somewhere. In which case, we’ll simply extend the 8-week session into March.)

Class costs are the same as last year -- $12/class or a discounted $64 for the 8-week session (that's like getting a couple classes for free!) Classes are offered through the Madison Dept of Parks & Facilities.

Bear & Rabbit Say "Thank You"

During 2011, Peaceful Hands Yoga students were incredibly generous to the Wildlife Center of Virginia ... donating time, supplies, and food that helped save the lives of many wild animals.  I've said "thank you" before, but I wanted to take a moment to thank you all yet again for your kindness.  Your generosity embodies the pure spirit of yoga!

This spring many of you helped with an online voting campaign to name the Wildlife Center's new Red-Tailed Hawk RUBY -- in honor of the young civil rights hero, Ruby Bridges.

Also this spring, many of you became part of "TEAM BUNNY" collecting fresh young dandelions, lettuce, and other fresh greens to help provide tasty and nutritious food to the overflowing number of young rabbit patients at the Center.  Rabbit patients are fussy eaters.  The time you spent collecting and picking bags of fresh greens ensured that these fussy eaters had something they liked!

This fall, you changed your focus to "TEAM BEAR", working together to gather food to feed a young, underfed bear cub.  You provided so much good, nutritious food!  My car was filled to overflowing several times.  Many of you tapped your friends, local grocers, and your schools to collect donations.  The bear grew big and strong and was released back to the wild in early December.

And, then, you joined in a WILDLIFE CENTER BENEFIT yoga class in December to support the Wildlife Center -- bringing monetary donations, supplies, and other equipment that will support the Center's work in the days, weeks, and year ahead!

I thank you for your kindness to all creatures -- big and small -- and for the inspiration you are to me.  I'm uplifted by you whenever you unroll your yoga mat with me.  And, I'm uplifted by the kindness of your heart!

But, really ... I think two Friends of the Center, BEAR & RABBIT, say "thank you" much better than I ever could.
